I’ve conducted three giveaways since January:
- Using the Rafflecopter widget on my web site and on facebook. I offered 2 copies of The Pygmalion Hypnotist (ebook). After 7 days, I received only 7 entrants. One of those two posted a review on Amazon.
- Using Booklike, I offered 3 copies of an Redemption for the Hypnotist ebook. After 14 days, I received only 8 entries.
- Using Goodreads, I offered 4 copies of Pygmalion (paperback). After 28 days, I received 612 entries and 283 people added the book to their ‘to-read’ list.
I promoted all three giveaways through facebook, my web site, my mailing list, and the usual hypnosis-related forums. But clearly, I reached far more people on Goodreads. I think that Goodreads does a much better job of engaging readers in the giveaway.
I hope that the people who added The Pygmalion Hypnotist to their Goodreads reading list will actually read the book some day. But it’s difficult to predict. Some of those people have several thousand books on their lists.
