I’ve always liked to lay a track of classical guitar music under my recordings. But I’ve also always been very much aware of how limited my playing is. It’s very difficult for me to find songs that I can play and that fit the mood of the recordings. So I started taking lessons again.
I’ve taken a few lessons in the past, but I’ve been on my own since I bought a nylon string guitar. It’s been almost two years, and I’ve never gotten as comfortable with the instrument as I’d like. Teachers that specialize in classical music are a bit difficult to find in the Detroit area, but I think I found someone who’ll help me improve.
One of my biggest problems has always been the shape of my fingernails. Never felt like I had that right. It felt funny to have a guy hold my hand and file down the nails like he was giving me a manicure, but it did improve the tone of my playing.
