When I first came online to discuss hypnosis and D/s, a few subs told me that a true dominant doesn't need to hypnotize his sub to control her. Back then, my naive response was "but it’s so hot to see a woman hypnotized." Ten years later, I have a very different answer. Hypnosis isn't always about what the dominant wants. Sometimes, it’s about what the sub needs to feel controlled, to let go of her inhibitions, or to develop her sexual potential.
I'm reminded of an early episode of Star Trek Voyager. Tuvok, the security officer, is tasked with training a group of people who were involuntarily added to the ship’s crew. He tries to train them using the same methods that he previously used with Starfleet cadets. But his original methods don’t work with these people. He has to adjust his training methods to accommodate the different needs of the new students.
Of course Voyager wasn't the only program to explore this theme. Other shows like Welcome Back Kotter and movies like The Ron Clark Story, and Summer School showed us students who couldn’t be reached with conventional teaching methods. But they also showed that, by adjusting their teaching methods, teachers could reach the students, engage them, and help them grow.
Many of us dominants view ourselves like teachers; our subs and slaves are our students. Our goal is to help our sub or slave explore and grow their sexuality to their fullest potential. But each sub or slave comes to us with a different set of needs. Some need to overcome inhibitions against oral sex, some need to get rid of that inner voice that rebels against authority, some need help reaching arousal more quickly, and some need help simply to accept their own sexual desires. If we were to try training these subs with the same methods we'd use for an experienced masochist, we’d quickly lose these subs’ trust and respect. Like the above mentioned teachers, we must continually reevaluate our student’s needs and adjust our training methods accordingly. Hypnosis provide an effective way to reach and train difficult subs.
With hypnosis, we can quell the inner rebellious voice, that voice that says 'no' even when the sub want’s to say 'yes.' We can reach past the bad habits and the social conditioning, and build new mental pathways for the sub can explore their sexual potential.
I know a lot of women perform fellatio only to please their partner; they don't experience any pleasure of their own during the act. Some women may mentally tell themselves that it’s dirty, others might silently hope to get it done quickly. You can’t just order a woman to stop the internal dialog. And you certainly can’t whip her into enjoying an activity while her mind continually repeats negative comments about it. But with hypnosis, you can create a new a path to engage her mind in the pleasure of the activity.
My strategy for The Ultimate Kiss is a good example. I immersed my listeners' mind the feeling of pleasure a woman feels during a passionate kiss and guided them into transferring that pleasure into the act of fellatio. Once a woman learns to experience fellatio through the same state of mind that she enjoys kissing, she can enjoy fellatio too.
Of course, my script isn't quite that simple. But hypnosis opened the door, enabled the listener to circumvent her inhibitions and create a new state of mind (a new mental path) in which to discover the woman's enjoyment of fellatio. This is the true benefit of hypnosis, and why more dominants should think about including hypnosis as part of their training programs. Hypnosis helps the dominant adjust their teaching to meet the needs of the submissive.
